About This Meeting

PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are commonly called “forever chemicals” because they break down very slowly over time. The Centers for Disease Control have detected PFAS in most Americans tested, including newborn babies. PFAS are also found in the blood of animals.

PFAS are used widely used and have been linked to health issues in humans and animals. Drinking water is one of the most common sources of PFAS exposure.

In this meeting, we discuss what PFAS are, how they’re used, what health effects they can cause and how to filter PFAS from our drinking water. We also share a common maintenance issue that homeowners often don’t anticipate when filtering PFAS from water used for consumption and cooking.
