Building Science
Thursday, March 24th from 10 AM to 1 PM Eastern
Building science is the study of how components of a house work together to control moisture, heat flow and air flow. Understanding building science allows us to realize performance: a healthier, more comfortable and more efficient home.
This course will review the building science fundamentals that serve as the foundation for our building codes, energy code, home performance industry/green building certifications. Good building performance relies on understanding and properly applying building science.
Energy Code
Thursday, April 28th from 10 AM to 1 PM Eastern
The energy code has an outsized impact on homeowner health and comfort plus the performance/efficiency of our homes. In this introduction to the energy code, we’ll help you better understand how the energy code works and how to choose one of the multiple paths to compliance.
We’ll also explain the testing components in the code used to verify the level of performance expected – how to get what you’re paying for.
Heating + Cooling Systems
Thursday, May 26th from 10 AM to 1 PM Eastern
We rely on heating/cooling systems for health, comfort and efficiency. Despite their importance, heating/cooling systems are often misunderstood: poorly designed, installed, operated and maintained.
Heating and cooling costs average more than half of the energy used in American homes. The US EPA estimates 20-30% of energy in our heating/cooling systems is lost due to leaks: a significant waste of money + cause of comfort/health problems.
We've created this course to help you enjoy better health and comfort while saving money.

We’re Not Selling
We’ll talk about many different products and services during the education courses in our spring series. We don’t sell any of those products or services and don’t receive any consideration for mentioning them.
We mention them as examples with the understanding that there are typically many competitors. Our focus is helping you understand the fundamentals that will empower you to make better decisions when choosing products and services.
